Poor Service Warranty useless if dropped, oh but wait ....

HP laptop was purchased at the Huntington ny store. After waiting for two weeks, mind you th bogus warranty was purchased as well. Their service center said it was dropped and the warranty is void. Then it was returned to us, store mgr. wouldn't help us, it was up to the support center. Wait, it was brought into the store working and burning as well. The laptop was looked at by an outside professional shop, stated that this computer was poorly made and there were hundreds of complaints. Also stated that best buy will assume it was dropped and void the warranty. Funny how this turned out as he said she said. Best buy did call me and was waiting for an approval for est to fix the computer, and the peon said that at the time of purchase the salesman should have explained the OTHER EXTRA WARRANTY, if any electronics purchased in their store would fall and break it was covered. That means a tv,computer, stereo, etc. There are hundreds of other complaints against them so obviously, they stink. Stay away.

In September 2010, I purchased a new HP G62T-250 Laptop computer directly from HP. When I purchased the computer at first, it gave me no problems. Then in June 2011, while still under warranty, the USB 2.0 ports broke. One physically broke while gently removing a...

I purchased an HP EliteBook 8504w going on two years ago now.

From the very first boot I could see this laptop was going to be a rock in my shoe.

I unboxed the EliteBook and turned it on which is when I was greeted with an incredibly loud, completely unnecessary BEEEEEEEP!

Being in computers most of my life I knew that respectable PC makers allow users to tweak and configure their laptop the way they wanted so I dove into Setup and found no option to turn off HP’s ridiculous and more than a little embarrassing BEEEEEEEEP!

After HP’s silly BEEEEEEEP woke my wife and newborn for the tenth time I decided to take action.

I foolishly went to HP’s site hoping there’d be something there, maybe a new BIOS upgrade, anything to help turn off HP’s nails on a chalk board BEEEEEP!!!

But, as I’ve come to expect from HP, there was nothing.

So I contacted HP’s useless tech support team who, like their support page, was completely useless and I’ve yet to get an answer to my problem.

I actually forgot about HP and their *** support until last week.

Nearly two years after submitting a request for help, HP sent me an email.

The email suggested I visit their site for a BIOS upgrade...which as of today, May 14, 2012, still isn't there

My Vow: “I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HP PRODUCT FOR AS LONG AS I LIVE.

How do you HP execs like that?

Good now go outsource more US jobs to India where they treat their workers like cattle.

after talking to hp alot on the phone & trying to get someone to help, It seems as high as you can go is Margie & Carlos in California, When I was unsatisfied with both of there answers I ask to speak to there supervisor & was told there is not anyone above them, I said to Carlos there must be a president or CEO Or someone & he said no, that the complaint stops here & nothing else could be done. He said the people above them did not want to be bothered with this stuff, it needed to be resolved here.

Poor Customer Service

I contacted HP regarding a cracked LCD screen. Upon opening my laptop the screen cracked along the right hand side. I first went through the instant chat route through their website. The person on the other end took 5-10 minutes responding to each entry. He informed me that I would have to pay $241.30 to replace the screen on a laptop purchased for $399.99 only 4 weeks prior. This is unacceptable. I asked for a phone number thinking the response time would be quicker and I might be able to seek some sort of resolution. I thought wrong. The man on the phone would stop halfway through the sentence and took even longer to reply. There were long periods of awkward silence in which I had to repeatedly ask if we were still connected. The man on the other end eventually stated that I would have to pay for the screen replacement but would not give me anymore information as he barely spoke English. During these long awkward silences I decided to do a bit of information digging. I found out that there were plenty of occurrences of this same nature with HP products. The man on the phone stated that I must have damaged the laptop as I am the first to have reported such an issue. When I informed him of the information I found about similar occurrences he called me a "liar" and stated that if it is not posted on HP's website then it is not true. I did not like the disrespect he was directing towards me so I asked to speak with his supervisor. After a 5 minute pause I was connected to a supposed supervisor who stated the same disrespectful phrases as his fellow coworker. I did not expect to have the screen replaced for free but I will not pay more than half the price of the 4 week old laptop to have the problem resolved. As I explained this to the "supervisor" he literally shouted at me over the phone. Stated that if I want to use my laptop then pay the money, then transferred me back to the original person I was speaking to. I asked for the supervisors ID number and name. The man gave me the supervisors name but refused to give me any sort of ID number. His excuse for his refusal was that "this is a professional call and I cannot give out personal information". How is business identification number personal information??? Bottom line is HP's customer service is horrible, and they transfer all calls out of country to people who you can hardly understand and barely speak English. Needless to say, neither me (or my company) or my husband (and his company) will ever purchase HP products again.

They repeatedly told me they would credit my credit card

I have been waiting since 3/14/11 for a refund to my credit card for a service that was canceled within 10 minutes after they charged my card. Since then I have waisted probably at least 7 or 8 phone calls where I was out right lied to over and over-"I'm taking care of this right now" This is no way to treat a consumer. The last person to lie to me was named Garrett, and he said almost word for word what all the people before him said-" they were taking care of this matter right as we speak and they always tell me that I'll never have to call again because they would personally pu the credit through" Richard Foster

HP does not make laptops, they make craptops.

About 4 years ago, I bought an HP Pavilion dv9000 laptop. Within two months it literally burst into flames. It has very good features, but unfortunately it is not built to last. After the incendiary incident, I decided to get the extended warranty plan. It turns out, that was a good decision. A few months later, it broke again, this time it would not start correctly, there was something wrong with the hard drive and the graphics card. After they fixed that, I was in the clear for a while, until about a year later the motherboard fried. When I got my laptop back, HP was "kind" enough to return it with a few dead pixels on the screen that were not there before, and now the screen flops around every time you move it even a little. Between the 3 times that my computer broke in a little over a year, I spent more that 24 hours on the phone talking to Indian HP tech support people that spoke "English". And by the way, don't ever hope to get those important files on your hard drive back after they fix it. They reformat your hard drive every time even if nothing is wrong with it. My sister also had an HP laptop with all the same problems. I would never recommend HP products to anybody and I will never so much as buy and ink cartridge from them ever again.

You will receive a refurbished printer to replace your current one. The local vendors only have new printers. It's not reasonable to expect the local vendors to keep a refurbished stock of every model printer.

HP Laptop

On January 25, 2010, I bought a PAV dx43-1****. I only use it for about 3 or 4 hours/day; some days not at all. On April 30, 2011, while working on it the computer shut down. Thinking the battery had run down, I plugged it into an outlet, but it still would not work. I took the computer to Best Buys and they said that it was probably the motherboard and it would cost about $339.00 plus tax plus a fee to replace it. I called HP and was told it was months over warranty and quoted approx. what Best Buy told me but that I would have to pay shipping both ways to have them fix it. This is the last time any one in my family will purchase another HP product. This same senario has happened to my two daughters and a son-in-law. What a disgrace. If there is a class action suit filed against HP, let me know. I'm in.

You can buy a new Toshiba laptop for 339$.

I had the same problem with the battery. It just died and gets hot. I went from approximately 1 1/2 hours to 15 minutes in the course of a few days after the warranty expired-1yr.

They say you can recalibrate a battery so I think I might try that. I know several people with Dells who have gotten YEARS of battery life compared to the one year HP gives you. And they have the gaul to say most batteries are ready for replacement after a year.

HP Color LaserJet CM6030 MFP

I purchased a hp 6030 mfp. It has been a very good printer. I purchased all my supplies from hp. Recently a fuser I purchased from you locked up and caused damage to my printer. Your support team has been terrible. It takes hours to get to someone and they seem to not be able to do anything to fix my printer except to state it is out of warranty. That may be the case but your supplies damage your printer I sent information to this group and they do not help Feedback to CEO and President Léo Apotheker

Company that don't care after you buy

I got a HP notebook L2000, my recovery disc does not work so I called HP for a new one, first they ask for all kinds of infomation of you and what kind computer you got, and than you can say reason why you called. So after all that waste of time they told me my computer is over 5 years old and they don't support or carry any products after 5 years. So there's no way I can get a recovery disc. What he told me is after 5 years you should buy another computer. This is not a company that backs up their products.

You may be able to solve your problem using a third party rescue program. I've had success on many occasions using "Norton Systemworks Premiere", specifically the programs "Disc Doctor" and "Win Doctor".

I wouldn't recommend installing Norton onto your hard drive, you want to run the programs from the Norton utility CD-ROM. If your start drive won't boot, you can even build a startup disc using Norton.

BTW, HP's limiting their support to 5 years for a product, there's a name for that - Planned obsolescence.

Sorry, just wanted to edit my last statement slightly. Apparently a regular frowny face autopopulates into one that looks angry.

That was not my intention, and I meant no snark. Sorry for any confusion.

I'm sorry to hear of your troubles with HP. The thing with recovery discs is that every model has its own recovery disc suited just for that model. The rep you spoke with needed to know the specific model for that reason. They also need to find out what the problem is because you may not actually need a recovery disc.

I used to work for a company that sold and scheduled computer tech support. I heard more than a few times from customers who were told by our techs to call their computer manufacturer for the discs, only to have to the mfr fix the problem without the recovery being necessary. I'm sure you're aware that performing a recovery brings it back to factory settings, which is a huge pain one would typically like to avoid if possible.

The rep wasn't wasting your time. They really need all the info that was asked of you. Also, because every model needs it's own recovery discs, it becomes economically unreasonable to just keep printing these discs. If you do get a new computer, you would do well to ask about recovery discs. Most computers either come with one that you should keep somewhere safe, or have a safe mode function capability that does the same thing. This is sound advice for every computer purchase. Good luck with your situation :(

Lied and scammed

HP Pavilion Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 17.3" Display - Aluminum on Best Buy David reviewed HP Pavilion Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 17.3" Display - Aluminum at Best Buy and gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Decent computer, except had hard drive problems. Contacted Best Buy.com 4 days after receiving computer to try to resolve and get replacement/refund, to be given a run around for 3 weeks. Finally had to contact HP personally. HP and myself together contacted Best Buy to be told I called 4 days after receiving my computer about a phone. How can you mistake a laptop computer for a phone? Best Buy did not want to take responsability for the product they sold me so they LIED about the call to them 4 days after receiving the computer to pass the buck. HP is correcting what Best Buy should have, and have gone above and beyond they're warrenty to satisfy an upset customer, since Best Buy would not help THEY'RE customer. Great computer, and great manufacture. BAD RETAILER!!!!!!! Pros: Fast computer, Great screen resolution. Cons: Retailer who sold it.

HP laptops: Don't buy in Quebec!

I purchased a brand new Hewlett Packard laptop in late December 2010. One month later, it stopped working. Because HP doesn't have a service affiliate in Quebec, the unit had to be shipped to Ontario for repair, at HP's expense. It was returned to me a week or so later, fixed, with a one-word report of what the problem was: "Cable." That's all they told me. Three days after receiving the laptop back, the hard-drive stopped being recognized and the unit was no longer working…. Again! I called HP and demanded that my claim be escalated. At this point, after two fatal incidents with a brand new laptop, I didn't want that unit back – I wanted a new laptop. HP would not accommodate and said they would keep taking it back for repair throughout the warranty period. Reluctantly, I sent the unit back for repair a second time and waited about a week for its return. It came back yesterday (March 21, 2011) with a whole new hard drive and operating system (I lost everything that I had been working on) and to add insult to injury, the replaced hard-drive was 50 Gigs smaller than the original hard drive. The original was 500 Gb., the "new one" is 450 Gb.! The unit is now going back to HP for a third time in three months and I remain confident that it will be going back for repair again sometime in the near future. This is criminal and I'm launching a lawsuit. Anyone else in Quebec have similar HP horror stories with brand new devices?

BAD MOTHER BOARDS

I purchased a new HP Pav Elite in 2009 Windows 7 to replace my Windows 3 which was being repaired. All of my systems have been bought at Best Buy so they need to be aware. Seems as though the Mother Boards are no good from the get go! My system of 2009 got replaced by HP in Dec 2010 and now the new one replaced 01/2011 is having problems as well. What happened to items made in America? For $64 for buying American made puts many people back to work here in the USA. HP needs to get on the ball with their Mother's. When you out out a $1,000 for a computer tower to do what you need it to do and it doesn't is poor business. Next trip is filing a legal suit. Customer Service has been very good. Just can't fix the dam thing!
